THE RETURN OF THE
REALLY WHITE VIGILANTE

why are all these hipsters so disgruntled?
Here's a preview of what I've been up to all these months.  With a release date scheduled for sometime this summer, there's scant time to spill all the beans, but here's a quick peak at the inner workings behind putting together a comic book from start to finish.

The Tales of
the Really White Vigilante #2

story and art: Michael Schliefke
cover: Ian Shults
advertisements: Corey Goering

tentatively scheduled for release sometime in June 2008.

I've spent the past few months writing the stories that flesh out the larger, over-arching tale that will culminate at the end of volume four.  I'll be introducing a few characters and want to keep the tone and ideas of each book separate from each other.

The second volume of the series picks up about four months after the first, as Austin gears up for SXSW.  Our hero is still in East Austin, finding himself in an unfamiliar situation and feeling a bit stifled by life.  He notices more and more hipsters in his neighborhood, and more than ever, feels there's nothing he can do about it.  Then a series of events takes place that gets his blood pumping and the surreal tale goes full throttle.

Below are some pictures of what I've been up to.  You can see some of the fanatical writings that now take up 30 pages in my trusty spiral bound notebook, along with a sketch from the comic that hasn't been finished yet, along with a bunch of studies of other panels and odds and ends from the unfinished project.

Of course, I'll be updating The Really White Vigilante's website shortly with all the details of release date, locations to buy the book, and the opening night party.
